What data we collect and why
Information you provide directly
Contact form submissions: If you contact us via email or contact form, we collect:
- Your email address (to respond to you)
- Your name (if you provide it)
- The content of your message
How we use it: Only to respond to your inquiry. We don't add you to mailing lists or use your email for marketing. We keep correspondence for up to 1 year for reference, then delete it.
Calculator input data
Calculator inputs: When you use our calculators, you enter project dimensions, amounts, and other values.
How we handle it: All calculator operations happen in your browser only. We do not transmit, store, or have access to your calculator inputs or results. Your project data is private and stays on your device.
Automatically collected data (analytics)
We use Google Analytics in privacy-friendly mode to understand how people use our site. This helps us improve calculators and identify issues.
What we collect:
- Pages you visit and time spent on site
- Which calculators you use (not the values you enter)
- Browser type, device type, and screen size
- Referring website (how you found us)
- General location (city/country level, not precise)
- Anonymized IP address (last digits removed for privacy)
What we DON'T collect:
- Your full IP address (we anonymize it)
- Personal identifying information
- Calculator inputs or results
- Cross-site tracking data
- Advertising IDs or profiles
What we never collect
We do NOT collect:
- User accounts or login credentials (we don't have accounts)
- Payment information (the site is free)
- Social security numbers, financial data, or sensitive personal information
- Precise geolocation or GPS data
- Biometric data
- Health information
Cookies and tracking technologies
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. They help websites remember information about your visit.
Cookies we use
We use minimal cookies:
Google Analytics cookies: These track anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the site. We've configured Google Analytics with:
- IP anonymization enabled
- Advertising features disabled
- User-ID tracking disabled
- Data sharing with Google disabled
No advertising cookies: We do not use cookies for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking.
Third-party cookies
When you click affiliate links to external sites (Amazon, retailers, etc.), those sites may set their own cookies. We have no control over third-party cookies. Review their privacy policies for details.
Controlling cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
- Block all cookies: Most browsers allow you to refuse all cookies. The calculators will still work.
- Delete cookies: You can delete cookies at any time through browser settings
- Third-party cookies: You can block third-party cookies while allowing first-party cookies
Blocking Google Analytics cookies means we won't know you visited, but all calculators will function normally. We respect your choice.
Third-party services and data sharing
Services we use
We use these third-party services to operate the website:
Google Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Cloudflare Pages: Website hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare's privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
Affiliate networks: When you click affiliate links, the destination site may track the referral. We don't control their privacy practices.
We don't sell or rent your data
We never sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties. We don't have much data to sell anyway—by design.
When we might share data
We may disclose information only in these limited circumstances:
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or legal process
- Safety concerns: To prevent fraud, abuse, or harm to people or property
- Business transfer: If the website is sold or merged, data may transfer to new owner
How we protect your data
Security measures
We implement reasonable security measures to protect data:
- HTTPS encryption: All traffic to our site uses secure HTTPS connections
- Secure hosting: Website hosted on Cloudflare's secure infrastructure
- Limited data collection: The best security is not collecting data in the first place
- No user accounts: No passwords or credentials to be compromised
No system is 100% secure
While we take reasonable precautions, no internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data.
